Symposium on Disability and Accessibility

The EAD team is delighted to announce the symposium 'Removing barriers: disability and accessibility in the creative sector' taking place in Edinburgh on Saturday 18th May 2024.

The event will be at Dovecot Studios, be free of charge and will include presentations on the Enhancing Audio Description project among other contributions.

The event is free of charge and will focus on different presentations, reflections and discussions on disability and accessibility within different creative spaces. We will be welcoming guest speakers as well as having a spotlight on the Enhanced Audio Description (EAD) methods, including an opportunity to listen to different examples and learn about the latest updates.

During the breaks there will also be a chance to experience work by artist Keith Salmon from his series Painting with Sound.

Accessibility information: The venue is wheelchair accessible with ramps, lifts and wide doorways. A hearing loop system is installed in the room and British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters will be available throughout the event. Furthermore, speakers have been requested to include visual descriptions in their presentations.
